Elise Weiland |
Elise Weiland is the Executive Director of the Carmel River Watershed Conservancy. Before joining the CRWC, Elise demonstrated her dedication to protecting the Russian River Watershed, spearheading initiatives at the Russian River Confluence. Her ability to forge coalitions of government, nonprofit, and tribal organizations has propelled critical restoration projects forward. She created the Respect Russian River campaign, fostering collaboration among Sonoma and Mendocino counties and engaging stakeholders from individuals to businesses to agencies to work together for the health of the river. As Project Manager for Supervisor Hopkins in the County of Sonoma, she has led community outreach and political advocacy for a diverse array of projects from water systems to public infrastructure. Elise brings over 15 years experience in leading environmentally focused nonprofits such as the Colorado Maker Hub and the Alliance for Sustainable Colorado.

Abbie Beane |
Abbie Beane is the Interim Project Coordinator of the Carmel River Watershed Conservancy and has 15 years of experience in the environmental field. She has worked for several conservation nonprofits in Wyoming and Oregon, and directed zero-waste, organics recycling, environmental certification and extended producer responsibility programs in California at the local and state levels. She is currently a research consultant for the Mattress Recycling Council, managing programs to increase collections, recycled output and new markets for post-consumer mattress materials. She is also the grants program manager for the California Carpet Stewardship Program. Zero waste accolades include managing the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am, which won the California Resource Recovery Association “Outstanding Resource Recovery at an Event or Venue” award two consecutive years. Beane has also worked for the Product Stewardship Institute in Boston and as a journalist for print media. Beane currently serves on the Monterey Regional Compost Coalition and the California Green Initiatives for Venues and Events Technical Council. Beane is a Sustainable Event Alliance certified professional and holds a Masters degree in international environmental policy and sustainable business and development from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey.

Ella McDougall |
Ella started with CRWC as an intern in 2018, until filling the role of Communications Coordinator in 2021. Originally from Pennsylvania, and with a background in environmental science and coastal geology, Ella decided to transition to policy and strategic planning after volunteering in the Peace Corps in Peru from 2015 to 2017. Since then, she has devoted her career to helping human and natural communities prepare for climate change, especially those along the coast of California faced with the challenges of sea-level rise. Ella graduated from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies with a masters degree in International Environmental Policy. Although dedicated to work in the coastal zone, you’ll most likely find Ella on snowy summits or riding her bike around Lake Tahoe.

ERika garig |
Erika grew up on a small farm near the El Dorado National Forest where she spent most of her time outdoors, climbing trees, or in the water. She is currently interning for CRWC to help restore and maintain the health of the watershed. Her work includes updating the Carmel River Watershed Report Card and wildfire outreach in Carmel and Big Sur. As a native Californian, she is not stranger to wildfire, so she values spreading the word about mitigation best practices. She previously worked in fire fuel reduction projects, where she found a passion for vegetation management. She is an environmental science masters student at CSUMB, and hopes to continue working on conservation and outreach.

Luciane Coletti |
Luciane is a conservation photographer who has dedicated her career to conservation, first as a wildlife biologist and now as a conservation storyteller. Currently, she focuses on producing engaging visual stories to make information about the environment easily accessible to the general public. Her work includes producing visual stories and interactive maps about the Carmel River Watershed for environmental education and outreach.
