GET INVOLVED WITH THE WATERSHED
Volunteer: The Carmel River Watershed Conservancy always welcomes volunteering by local residents and those who consider themselves stewards of the Carmel River. We participate with Carmel River Steelhead Association(CRSA) members and the Monterey Peninsula Water Management District staff in fish rescues when the river flows begin to trap or isolate steelhead. Also, CRWC periodically works with other organizations in cleanup activities along the river and in tributary streams and creeks.
The Coastal Watershed Council(CWC) in Santa Cruz also welcomes volunteers to conduct water quality monitoring.
Tours: CRWC is now conducting watershed tours in several locations along the Carmel River for a nominal fee, or gratis to school or college student groups. If you are interested in participating in such watershed tours, please contact Lorin Letendre at letendre@sbcglobal.net / Abbie Beane, 503-320-4975 or abbiebeane@gmail.com.
Internships: CRWC periodically sponsors internships for young professionals attending college or working in the environmental field.
Fish Rescues: Get involved with the Carmel River Steelhead Association fish rescues this fall by contacting Steve Park at stevepark@razzolink.com.
Invasive Species Abatement: Contact the Carmel Valley Association's Paola Berthoin at fiorelle@redshift.com.
